UPDATED 11/29/2009

I returned on Sunday to see what my family thought of Supanburi. They liked it but were not super impressed. They are big fans of Thai House in Redlands and Supanburi is almost equal in quality. My problem with Thai House is the service.

The Pad Thai was good, it has chicken, shrimp and lots of peanuts. It was a decent sized portion. I did not especially care for the spicy egg plant. I have no idea why I ordered it and would never order it again. It had a slimy consistency and not seasoned to my taste. The baby corn and mushroom was okay but nothing special. The dish needed a lot of chili to spice it up. The best part of the meal was the Fried Tofu. It was fried crispy brown and served with a plum sauce on the side. I mixed the plum sauce, soy sauce and red chili to make a spicy dip. The consensus was the good was good but we would not go out of our way to return. There are Thai restaurants nearer to us that are just as good if not better.

#8 Thai Yellow Curry with Potatoes and Carrots, Fried Rice, Soup and Salad $6.95

Supanburi Restaurant is located on South Mount Vernon near the intersection of Center Pointe Drive in Colton. This is not the best area in the Inland Empire but is mostly safe. The inside of the restaurant looks a little run down. I think it is mainly the old, worn out carpet. Supanburi would appear much more appealing to the eye if they replaced the old carpet. It is a nice size restaurant not too busy the day after Thanksgiving. I observed only two employees, a server and cook. Supanburi Province is located in central Thailand, the really hot food comes from the North. Supanburi has a menu filled with Thai food selections.

They have lunch specials priced at $6.95 that come with both soup and salad. Supanburi has a variety of selections to choose from for lunch. Red or Yellow Chicken Curry, Chow Mien with choice of meat, Mint and Garlic with Choice of Meat (pork, chicken, or tofu), Black Pepper and Garlic with choice of meat. Penang Beef, Mixed Vegetables, Broccoli with choice of meat, in all I think there were about twelve selections. The lunch is also served with your choice of steamed or fried rice. I choose the number eight, Thai Yellow Curry with chicken, potatoes and carrots. It was served with a bowl of Thai Hot and Sour Soup and an average side salad with a sweet dressing. The soup certainly tasted like Thailand. It was mainly broth, with small bits of chicken, and a few veggies. It had a hot, exotic taste. The Yellow Curry was delicious. It had an abundance of chicken mixed with the potatoes and carrots. The curry had a sweet spicy taste, it tasted homemade to me. They also have a variety of dinner special combos at $9.95, $12.95 and $13.95.

I will be back to Supanburi to try other menu selections. I will bring my family next time, they love good Thai food. If you want authentic tasting Thai food give Supanburi Thai a try.
