Claim Jumper is located in Restaurant row on Hospitality Lane. It has a nice cozy atmosphere with moose heads and deer antlers on the walls. It is a big restaurant with plenty of seating. I have visited many Claim Jumpers throughout Southern California and generally have a good experience. I never leave Claim Jumper hungry, always carrying a doggy bag. Some of my favorite menu items are the rotisserie chicken, pork ribs and homemade mashed potatoes.
Recently I have had a craving for meatloaf so I gave gave their meatloaf sandwich a try. It was all right, but the sauce was a little too sweet for my tastes. It a
is served on grilled sourdough bread with a generous portion of meatloaf. The sandwiches are served with one side order, I chose the side salad. Next time I think it better to order the meatloaf dinner, I can do without the sweet BBQ sauce on the sandwich. The Tilapia was served over a bed of rice and grilled asparagus topped with a creamy poblano chili sauce. It was a good combination of flavors and I would order it again. The Turkey Club was also served on grilled sourdough, with turkey, ham and bacon. It is a satisfying sandwich , but if I ordered again it again, would ask for only two slices of bread. The third slice was just too much bread.
The food was good but we waited a long time after ordering to receive our food. My main complaint about Claim Jumper is the service. We were seated quickly, and our order was taken. After a long wait our food was delivered. Our server did not offer any drink refills, we felt abandoned. We went for a late lunch and Claim Jumper was not very busy at that time. I do not know if they were understaffed or not, but no excuse for the poor service. This is not the first time that I have received mediocre service at Claim Jumper. I waited a day before I wrote this review so I would not be so harsh in my comments. I will probably return to Claim Jumper again when I get the craving for another of their great menu items. It will take some time before the memory of the poor service fades.
