Looking for a place for lunch today and remembered a Peruvian Restaurant I had caught a glimpse of in the center behind the Lotus Garden. I had not sampled Peruvian food and did not know what to expect. El Rico Pollo had a banner advertising Lunch Special for $5.99. Inside it looked somewhat upscale for lunch, white tablecloths and cloth napkins. The restaurant appeared clean, large screen TVs were playing Peruvian music videos.

My server was very sweet and friendly. I asked about the lunch special, I was told that only one item was on special. The quarter chicken with fries and a soda. I could substitute white rice for the fries, and had a choice between white or dark meat. Took a look at the menu and decided on the special. I am glad I did, it was a fantastic meal. The rotisserie chicken was dark golden brown, moist and delectable. Salad of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and red onion with a vinegary dressing was served on the same plate. The big surprise was the French fries, homemade, and cooked to perfection. These are the best fries I have ever had in a restaurant, they tasted like something mama would make. The meal also consisted of a bread basket with two warm rolls and butter and a spicy green sauce on the side. I was warned to go easy on the sauce. It was very good, I dipped the chicken and also used it to compliment the salad dressing. The meal was more than I could eat at one setting. The Pollo La Brassa (Rotisserie) 1/4 chicken with French fries and salad regular menu price is $6.50, 1/2 chicken is $9.50. The chicken is only a small part of the menu. They have many Peruvian beef, chicken, fish and seafood menu items. Most dinners run from $9.50 to $14.00. Would recommend some dinner specials also. I will be back to try some of the other menu items soon, hope they are as savory as the rotisserie chicken. In my opinion El Pollo Rico serves the best french fries in the Inland Empire, and will retain the crown until someone can direct me to better.
