El Pollo Loco - Buffalo Wings, San Bernardino

Buffaloco Wing Combo, 5 wings, small side and soda $5.99

This Pollo Loco is near the Inland Center Mall, not a great location after dark. I normally drive thru and get some chicken to take home for dinner. The chicken from this store is usually good, not overdone or dry like some El Pollo Loco's will serve.

I gave the new Buffalo Wings a try for lunch today. Did not care for the wings at all, rubbery wings dipped in a watery, bland sauce. I think it is a bad idea for El Pollo Loco to be serving these wings, they are bad for their image. The wings are the regular type of drum and wing portions you would get in any restaurant. They are frozen, El Pollo Loco drops them in the deep fryers and then dips the wings in either Buffaloco or BBQ sauce. I had the Buffaloco sauce, it has no particular spicy flavor at all. I picked up a hint of cumin seed, sauces defiantly needs some work. Pollo Loco is reputed to be a healthy alternative to fried chicken, these buffalo wings do not fit in to this concept I will be back to Pollo Loco over and over but not for the Buffaloco Wings.
