Pollo Campero, San Bernardino

Guatemalan Chicken

Pollo Campero

835 Harriman Pl
San Bernardino, CA 92408-3563

Pollo Campero is located in the former Yoshinoya next to a large store called La Curacao. Used to frequent the Yoshinoya when La Curacao was a Sam's Club, but not in the area since the change. I was under the impression that Pollo Campero sold Mexican Chicken. Pleasantly surprised to find something unusual, Guatemalan style chicken.

The interior is bright and clean, Ranchero music was playing. Pollo Campero has a self service salsa bar to spice up your order.

Combo #1 Two Pieces of Chicken with Campero Beans & Drink $6.69

Pollo Campero has typical fast food setup, order and they call your number. Service was fast as I appeared to be the only pre-lunch customer. Pollo Campero serves fried and grilled chicken. I opted for the grilled, the combo is served with one side order, tortillas or a roll. It seemed a bit over priced for the area at $6.69. The chicken had more of a roasted appearance and taste. It has a citrus flavor, the breast was moist and tasted great. The Campero Beans had bits of bacon and mild green chili to spice them up. Some of the other side choices were White Rice & Black Beans, Campero Rice and Cole Slaw. They also sell sandwiches and burritos. Over all the food was very good. I would recommend Campero Chicken for a change of pace. The chicken has a unique taste. I will return to give the fried chicken a try. The restaurant was getting quite busy by the time I finished my meal.
