Fried Chicken Dinner $15.90

Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant is located near the entrance of the park, close to Virginia's gift shop. I have been a guest here since I was a tyke. Have always heard stories that my Great Aunt was a waitress here in the early 50's. It has not changed much over the years, I seem to remember the food tasting better in days gone by. Was with a party of seven, we had to stand in line for half an hour or so. Line was not that long, I have seen it surrounding the building. I was not too impressed with the service, after 75 years you would think they would be more organized. Was asked about five times "how many in your party".

After a long day at the Farm with visiting relatives stopped in for the obligatory chicken dinner, it is now $15.90. This includes soup and salad, three pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage with ham or sweet corn and dessert. Dinner is also served with a basket of warm biscuits. The dinner was good but nothing outstanding. My blue cheese salad dressing was watery, the chicken noodle soup was creamy and delish. The cabbage was ok, the mashed potatoes were fresh and fluffy but a bit bland. Unfortunately my chicken breast was a bit dry, I checked with others and they said theirs was juicy. Best part of the meal was the boysenberry pie, crust was slightly salty and blended well with the sweet boysenberry filling. Mrs Knott's is a good place to do the tourist thing with out of towners, but will not be going out of my way to visit again soon. About ten years ago I visited a Mrs Knott's in Moreno Valley but it is long gone. I don't think the concept worked separated from the park.

  2. Boysenberry Pie was the best part of the meal. Had to take it home, too full.
