Miguel's, Corona

First time visitors to Miguel's, had heard that they had very good Mexican food. Sign advertises Sonoran style cuisine. Sonoran is the same style as most local and national chain restaurants (El Torito). I had tried Miguel Jr's Drive Thru in Grand Terrace and had enjoyed the Nachos. Miguel's is a full sized dinner house, lots of light and bright inside. Most often on my first visit to a new Mexican restaurant I will order the standard combo plate, enchilada and taco with rice and beans. If they do these basic items well, good chance the rest of the menu items will be pleasing. The two item combo is $9.99, served with the obligatory chips and salsa. Salsa was not one of my favorites, they serve it in a pancake syrup type dispenser. It is not a fresh tomato, chili and cilantro type salsa, more of a red chili, tomato and garlic mix. The taco was good, the shell was unusual in that it was soft fried instead of hard. It was full of shredded beef and more cheese than the standard taco. Food was standard chain Mexican fare, probably a bit better than El Torito or Acapulco . Service was friendly, prompt and efficient.

Repeat Visit? Food was good, but a bit far to drive for standard fare. I would repeat if in the neighborhood.
